Penistone Agricultural Society Campsite for the Tour De France Stage 2 - Friday 4th to Monday 7th July 2014.
The Penistone Agricultural Society who run The Penistone Show every September is to provide a Campsite in the heart of the town of Penistone, the highest market town in the country and one of the Pennines best kept secrets. The Town has provision for everything you may need, from quaint little shops, supermarkets, pubs, restaurant's, café's and a traditional picture house it also has its own Market Barn where you can purchase all manner of items produced locally. You will be able to get everything you need within walking distance. There are also trains direct to Huddersfield and Sheffield every hour and a regular bus route.
Penistone is a great place to explore Yorkshire countryside, with the nearby Trans Pennine Trail offering wild flowers, scenic pathways and much more as you walk the miles of beautiful countryside along its path. The Trans Pennine Trail will also be one of the main walking and cycling routes to get to Stage 2 of Le Tour.
There is also a new cycling project called Cycle Penistone where you can hire bikes, have guided rides, it also does bike repairs and servicing, everything is within reach easy reach of the campsite.
The Campsite will provide all the facilities you would expect: Showers, Toilets, Washing Facilities, Bar, Entertainment, Children's Play Area, Food Outlets, Enclosed camping area, separate campers car parking and it will have 24 hr security.

By Road:
Leave M1 at junction 37. Take A628 following the signs for Manchester for approximately 7 miles. This will take you direct to Penistone as you drive down into the town, turn left at the traffic lights and follow the directional signs to the main access entrance to the Campsite.
By Public Transport
From Barnsley Transport Interchange take the 92 Bus Train from Sheffield, Huddersfield and Barnsley
